"Drawing from the form of the Korean Moon Jar (Joseon dynasty 1392-1910), where two halves are joined together to create a whole, these vessels were created to symbolize the process of healing oneself. Traditionally made from porcelain and created to represent the subtleties of the female form, they were used as both ritualistic vessels and functional objects.
Instead of porcelain, I chose stoneware for its opacity, and coated the exterior in layers of manganese, cobalt, and iron glazes to create a deep, murky surface. The floating attachments are gestural impressions of my hands, an attempt to capture the fluidity of their movement." VC
