Poul Henningsen Copper "Plate" Pendant Lamp for Louis Poulsen
Regular price$4,400 Sale priceThis rare copper pendant was designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen in 1958 for the Langelinie Pavillion in Copenhagen.
It was one of the approximately twelve original ceiling lights that were commissioned from Poul Henningsen by Architects Eva and Nils Koppel for use in the Langelinie Pavilion. Henninsen found inspiration for the design in the restaurant's aquatic surroundings, with the concentric rings of the shade intended to reflect the movement of water.
Its official name ‘Tallerken’ is the Danish word for plate, and it is also referred to as the copper 'plate' fixture.
The fixture has a copper exterior and a white enamel interior and has been rewired to US Standards with a bronze cloth cord. The original copper is unaltered and has slightly darkened to a beautiful patina.
