FOOD SAFETY. Alternative firing processes [SODA/WOOD/SALT] cause variations in glazed surfaces leaving some "raw" clay exposed. These areas, although vitrified, are not glazed and therefore are not recommended for wet foods as they may be difficult to clean. Unless specified as "FlameWare," wares are not oven safe and should not be used over an open flame.
